God’s Work, Our Hands:
Giving Back During COVID and Always
“'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" - Matthew 22: 37-39
NEW: Tutoring Ministry
Tutoring students to achieve success during distance learning has become a need during this time of COVID. One-to-one teaching gives a positive result. To provide in-person, one-teacher-one-student is the goal of this new ministry of St. Mark. We are in conversation with a retired public school teacher who would like to begin a one-student-at-a-time instruction. The private instruction will be by appointment, and there will be a fee charged for each session of learning. To learn more, contact the church office.
Welcome to our Virtual Concert Series
St. Mark is the Music Place this fall as the church presents a special concert series to support area musicians, whose livelihoods have been greatly affected by COVID-19. Enjoy multiple performances by our church's Jazz & Gospel Ensemble and special guests throughout the fall by clicking above or going to our unique playlist on our YouTube channel. To support this effort, please consider making a donation.
Grab & Go Meals
Members of our church have cooked, packaged, and distributed two meals for the food-insecure population of Norwich. This effort has not been easy considering the impact of COVID-19, but thankfully grab and go meals make the luncheon possible despite the pandemic. Thank you to everyone who is participating in this ministry! If you would like to get together a group and sponsor a date, please contact Brenda McDonald at 860-501-5122 or irishbren@att.net to reserve a date or for updated information about the meals.
Special Concert Series
"God’s Work, Our Hands" Sunday has been observed since 2013 across ELCA congregations. Our church council chose to provide music for this observance. St. Mark Jazz & Gospel Ensemble members Ian Frenkel, Chris O'Dell, and Mark McCormick are performing in and coordinating this special series in hopes of raising money for area musicians deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. For safety reasons, the concert series will continue to be virtual on our church's YouTube Channel.
Cereal Ministry
Many thanks to those of you who have brought and continue to bring in cereal for S.t Vincent De Paul Place (SVDPP). St. Mark continues its commitment to provide at least 25 boxes of cereal to the SVDPP food pantry each month. Cereal boxes can be placed in the blue bin during our Sunday morning offering. Alternatively, you can call the church office at 860-887-6826 to arrange for drop off at St. Mark.
